Ondrejka looking to get out of academia
By Eric Reuters
Reuters caught up with Linden Lab ex-CTO Cory Ondrejka at the Virtual Worlds Conference in New York. Ondrejka teased us for getting our coverage of his departure from the company wrong. “I didn’t leave Linden Lab. Philip fired me,” Ondrejka corrected. Pressed for more details on what happened, Ondrejka looked at his watch and said “Oh, I can’t talk about it for another seven months and twenty-some days.”
Ondrejka has since moved to a teaching position at USC Annenberg, and praised the brilliance of his students. But is he looking to stay? “Oh, god no,” he said. “Academia just isn’t my speed, although Annenberg is probably the closest thing to it I could ever find.”
