Ageplay sim eyes new grid
By Eric Reuters
SECOND LIFE, March 11 (Reuters) - Wonderland, a Second Life region dedicated to depictions of adult-child sex, is exploring setting up a sim off the Second Life Grid called Litesim.com, according to a report by Massively.com.
Moving off the Second Life Grid would allow Wonderland autonomy from Linden Lab, which has banned ageplay within its borders.
Litesim programmer and majority shareholder Gareth Nelson (Second Life: Gareth Ellison) said the grid will be operational in less than two months.
Massively reported avatar Lalinda Lovell was promoting Litesim. Lovell declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.
Asked whether Litesim had a connection to Wonderland, Nelson teleported his Second Life avatar away, terminating the interview.
The Litesim website disallows child pornography in its terms of service. But a sign found by Massively within Second Life also promises “freedom and privacy guaranteed.”
The Wonderland sim was the center of controversy in November, after a media report explored possible child pornography in Second Life. The fallout caused Linden Lab to reiterate its disavowal of the practice.”Real-life images, avatar portrayals, and other depictions of sexual or lewd acts involving or appearing to involve children or minors are not allowed within Second Life,” said Linden Lab’s Ken Dreifach on the company’s official blog.
Nelson was once associated with OpenSim, but left the project after disagreements with other programmers. He plans to run Litesim on an OpenSim variant of his own making. Adam Frisby, a prominent OpenSim developer, said Nelson’s plan to create his own software capable of hosting Wonderland would be difficult, but given Nelson’s expertise, not impossible.

Wonderland SL (not Wonderland) were not a sim in SL, they had a small parcel in the Nemo Region that caused the fracas with Fox News last November.
Right now they operate a small parcel in the Littlefield region. There have been a number of suspensions for sexual ageplay in Littlefield already.
Garth Nelson runs Apsies for Freedom, a group Linda Lovell is highly active in, see Tenshi Villas blog.
One wonders if the Aspergers connection could indicate a deeper link between Lovell and Nelson.

You know I keep seeing posts in forums and other places from people who’s toes Linden Lab has stepped on saying they were moving to Central Grid or some other OpenSim running system. Lately I’ve been checking out Central Grid and must say that moving to OpenSim running systems isn’t much of a threat to Linden Lab. Central Grid’s own regions are down half the time I’ve tried them out. I don’t mean to knock the OpenSim or the Central Grid folks. What they are trying to accomplish could be great a few years down the road. It’s just those that think saying they are moving away from Second Life to these alpha systems is some how punishing Linden Lab are seriously mistaken.
