SL entrepreneurs cautiously optimistic for 2008
By Eric Reuters
Second Life merchants sounded mostly positive notes at an in-world discussion on the economy hosted by Giff Constable (Second Life: Forseti Svarog) of the Electric Sheep Company on Thursday.
Constable kicked off the meeting by asking about 30 attendees whether they thought 2008 SL economic growth would be down, flat, up, or way up.
Lordfly Digeridoo: Up. It’d be folly to think it’s going to grow as fast as it did last year.
Asytra Minogue: Up. Though age verification will kill some markets.
Britney Mason: Up. Like anything it will peak.
Xantha Oe: Flat to up.
Fallingwater Cellardoor: Up.
Troy McLuhan: Up, but not as fast as it’s been.
Todd Borst: Flat or slow up.
Botticelli Gabardini: Flat.
TheDiva Rockin: Up.
Forseti Svarog: I say moderate up.
Desdemona Young: A slow steady up.
Lacy217 McLuhan: Up.
JimmyJet Fossett: Up, I see the prospect of more transactional capability tied to web facilitating — but only if the platform can handle [it]. If LL does not improve, could actually cause flight to other platforms!
Avatar Rik Riel wise-cracked: “Would we be here if we didn’t think it was up?”
