Linden rachets back land supply

Linden Lab is racheting back its “amazing land printing press,” a move that will be welcomed by virtual real estate entrepreneurs who have seen a steady decrease in prices over the last few months.
“Our mainland supply will be reducing to an average of 10 regions per day from tomorrow onwards,” Jack Linden said in a blog post on Tuesday. “If we do not auction 10 on a given day, for example due to hardware levels or grid updates, we will catch up on subsequent days. This rate of supply will hold until at least the end of August 2007. As we approach the end of the month we will blog again with our expected supply rates for the first half of September.”
Jack Linden said the announcement was part of a new policy of transparency for decisions that affect the Second Life economy — although that comes a bit late for the casino owners who found themselves abruptly out of business last month.
“If the many land and economic metrics that we track show the need for a change in supply, we will attempt to blog this information as early as we can, to provide more notice going forward,” he said.
