SECOND LIFE, April 9 (Reuters) - The number of Second Life residents with a positive monthly cashflow rose 25.9 percent to 31,929 in March, the highest percentage increase since Linden Lab began tracking the figure in October.

As in the past, more than half of cash-flow positive users made less than US$10 per month, and 90 percent made less than US$100. The number of residents making more than US$5,000 per month rose 31 percent to 152, according to data provided by Linden Lab.

The cash-flow statistic consolidates multiple avatar names that are used by a single user, and excludes businesses that operate currency exchanges as well as those that operate via third-party services such as PayPal.

Residents sold 83.7 million squares acres of land during March at an average price of L$10.61, down from L$11.29 in the previous month. Nearly 1 million users logged into Second Life during the month, and the number of registered users — which includes alt accounts and users who signed up but never signed in — surpassed 5 million.
