The Toykomango blog has the details and a screenshot:

Even without a Japanese-language client, Japanese residents made up 1.29 percent of Second Life’s active users in January, according to Linden Lab data, putting the country in a tie with Switzerland for 12th place.

Advertising giant Dentsu is getting ready with the founding of a Second Life Study Association and research lab. There is some survey data on Japanese knowledge of and attitudes toward Second Life here.
And apparently the drumbeat of warnings about Second Life’s addictiveness has already begun.

UPDATE — A spokeswoman for Linden Lab’s outside PR firm emails: “Linden Lab is taking names right now if you want to take part in it. However, the beta itself hasn’t launched yet, and we don’t have a set in stone date for that currently.”

Stay tuned…
