In the wake of news that Dutch prosecutors may take action against virtual child pornography — a move that could potentially target “age play” in Second Life — blogger Kitten Lulu writes:

In Italy, virtual child porn and “age play” is already a crime. Our law against child porn covers also “realistic images of minors of 18 years, but the punishment is reduced by one third.”

The full law in Italian is here (art. 600 quater 2).

UPDATE — According to stats published by Linden Lab last week, Italians make up about 2 percent of the 200,000 active Second Life users, or about 4,000 residents. The Dutch make up 6.5 percent, or about 13,000.
