Volunteer opens John Edwards area in SL

SLNN has the first report of a John Edwards for President area in Second Life. This looks to be just a volunteer-directed effort for now, created by Second Life resident Jose Rote. However, a search reveals that a “John Edwards” avatar was created back in June. No Obama, Clinton, McCain or Giuliani avatars could be found.

Last year, former Virginia Governor Mark Warner was the first nationally-known politician to appear in Second Life. Second Life has also turned into a battleground in the French presidential elections.

It seems inevitable that the U.S. presidential race — the most wide-open election in more than 50 years — will be fought out in the virtual world as well.
